Cartoon Dude Flickering in Corner

There's a little yellow smiley-type cartoon Dude who flickers occasionally in the top left-hand corner of my phone; the part where it shows the date and time. I've only been noticing it for 2-3 days. I only have two games (Mahjong 2, and original Angry Birds) downloaded, and they've been on my phone for more than 18 months (I believe) and never had any trouble with them in concern to flickering cartoon characters.

Anyone else seen this dude, or am I the only one? If not, how do I get rid of it? It's bothering me.
