My galaxy s2 tablet is no longer syncing gmail

Until a couple days ago the Gmail synced fine. After an android or gmail update, it stopped syncing. I tried the troubleshooting fixes multiple times. The only thing that worked was to uninstall the updates, but after syncing once it is back to not syncing gmail.
