How good or bad is LG G4 H815 virtual reality performance?

Hello Guys. I'm thinking of getting a LG G4 H815 but I'm facing a mayor concern (for me). The thing is that I love virtual reality. I fell in love with the experience in a friend's S4 (Very smooth and consistent experience). However I got a chance to try VR on a Moto g4 plus and i have to say the framerate was very compromised. So, in summary I want a cellphone with vr gaming performance similar or better than the Samsung S4.Simple right? Well no. Not at all. You see, the LG 64 is indeed more powerfull than S4 in terms of hardware. But the problem is LG g4 has a 2k display. O my god! This is a nightmare!. Runing virtual reality games at 2k is very veeeeery difficult. For me 1080p was perfect as long as it was smooth. But if LG G4 vr gaming experience is less smooth than S4 because of that ******* exagerated display then I'm ****ed (Sorry for te language... not gonna change it though).I need you friends! Please share with me your experiences with vr gaming on the LG g4 in comparison with samsung S4. I need to know. I really hate the fact that samsung s4 is not being manufactured anymore. If it was i would buy that one.

Oh and another question. Does google cardboard allow you to use a lower resolution than native? If that's the case then i can set it to run at 1080p and problem solved! That would be so awsome. But I am under the impression that it's not like that.
