My contacts show multiple icons under "Connected via" (cloud, google, microsoft, etc.)

When I click on the "link" icon next to these, multiples of the contact name are listed. Some say "cloud", some say "Google," some say "Phone" and one says Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

My preferred email account is Hotmail (Microsoft).

How do I ensure my contacts are backed up to only one cloud locations, and stop all this duplication?
