How to set a silent vibrating alarm on LG V30

I'm trying to set a silent alarm that vibrates on my LG V30 but the alarm will only vibrate if there is an alarm sound set. I do have the 'alarm with vibration' setting turned on but it won't vibrate if it's a silent alarm. What settings do I need to change? I didn't have this problem on my old HTC One M9 with the same version of Android.
