Is video deletion on an Htc Android Inspire permanent?

I had an Inspire from 2012 a few years back which I put in the garbage can. I had a few videos deleted that were highly embarrassing, and was wondering if they're gone for good? I didn't perform a factory reset; I just tossed it in the trash.
