Unresponsive Touchscreen

I own a new Xiaomi Redmi 5, and sometimes while using the phone the touch screen becomes unresponsive. But, when I quickly lock and unlock the phone again it works perfectly fine. I just want to know wheter this is a software or a hardware issue, so that I can either reset the phone, or replace the screen or if any one have faced the issue and know how to fix it.
