Why can't I type in certain text boxes?

I have no problem typing text messages or text into Google, but certain text boxes don't bring up the cursor (eg Facebook comments, ebay search bar). I can bring the cursor up if I go into keyboard settings every time it doesn't appear. I have tried rebooting the phone but it hasn't worked. This problem started about 2 days ago. The phone is about 7 months old.
