S8 Contact pictures/pop up notification

Anyone else having this issue with the s8: i have pictures set for some contact. The picture shows when someone calls and while im texting them. However, it does not show up on the notification pop up. For example, as i type this i got a text. The notification bubble pops up but i do not know who it is from until i open message. My s6 would give me the picture if set and the first letter of their name if a picture was not selected
