Messages contact color help

Im trying to change contact colors and everything I've seen has told me to select "people & options" and change the color which used to work. When I open a conversation now I can click on the triple dots but "people & options" has been replaced with details and there is no option to change color in details, I've tried going into contacts and googling my problem but I guess I'm the only one who has it
