Why arent instagram notifications showing on Amazon Fire Hd 8

I have a Amazon Fire HD 8, with Instagram, but I never get notifications for DMs. I have notifications on and have tried contacting Amazon, but they offer no help. Does anyone know how to get notifications working or if they have had the same issue?
