Gmail not working on my tablet

For some reason, Gmail has decided to stop working on my tablet in that for the past two days, it has failed to display new messages. I open Gmail and keep seeing a message that correct credentials are needed. There's a sign in link right next to this message, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I have not changed my Google password, but I have signed into my Google account from other locations. I have been unable to find anywhere in the Gmail app or in the Google app where to logout and log back into my account.
