Can I use the WiFi hotspot on my Moto G4+ without any extra charge with Cricket?

I was told that my phone is not one of the Cricket compatible phones for hotspot use. Also, do I need to have a $50 plus data plan to be eligible to use a WiFi hotspot with Cricket?
