Samsung Galaxy S Cannot Connect or Communicate Google Servers?

We have an old samsung galaxy s smartphone we no longer use. We want to use it as a security camera by using a program called alfred from the ios and play store. We like to use the iphone as the main phone and this galaxy s as the camera.

The thing is this phone is someone else in our family and it does show the gmail connected to it. But i want to put a new gmail account and log in with that since to get alfred to work, you need to login to your gmail account in both the iphone and this phone to set up the camera. However when i go to play store, i get message Cannot connect or communicate google servers. I also can't seem to erase this gmail account. So i then went to sign in gmail account i settings... the gmail account i want to use to sign in to this and the iphone for alfred. But i get the same message on this phone. So basically i cannot log into gmail account and cannot download alfred on this phone. Also the gmail account connected to this i dont even think its even connected.

Can someone tell me how to fix this issue? Would a factory restore clear all this? However, i wouldnt want to erase everything on this phone and just want to use it as is while signing into a gmail account. But that does not work.
