How do I change the Message+ ringtone on my Samsung Droid Turbo?

I downloaded a notification ringtone and want to use it for Message+. I changed the notification ringtone in Message+ but it still plays the notification tone that had previously been set. I cannot get it to change. Pretty annoying. Can anyone help?
