[Samsung S9] Why am I no longer able to message group chats?

All of the sudden I can no longer send messages to group chats, all of them have this issue for me with different people in each chat. I get an immediate ! and it simply says "couldn't send message". I can send images, oddly enough. My phone is updated to the latest software version and I tried booting my phone into safe mode and still have the same issue.
