Move files from "recent downloads" on Galaxy Tab A

I have a bunch of files that I've downloaded to my new Tab A....the only way I seem to be able to move them out of the recent download folder is to plug the tablet into my laptop and move that way. Is this really the only way to do this? The user manual does not help!
