is it safe to do a reset, soft reset, and hard reset during the new oreo update?

i have a s7 and all the keys work fine, the phone works fine but its been 3 hours and i only see that my phone is still updating on the pulldown screen. It doesnt appear to be updating at all. On the pulldown screen it says not to leave (which i assume means wifi) and eventually i will have to leave my houses wifi..
