Not receiving notification for text messages.

My text messages all have a mute symbol next to them, and i receive no notification of messages. They've only way to see if I have any messages is to physically open the messaging app. Ive tried going into messaging settings, everything is turned on. Tried notification settings, everything is turned on. Not sure what else to do.
