Installed apps won't show on my home screen on the Pixel

I install an app and it won't show up on my home screen. It doesn't appear in the alphabetical list of apps on the swipe up menu either. However, I can find the app in my Google play store app list. I have the "add icon to home screen" box checked and it still won't show up. I've downloaded other apps before and it's worked. Now my Pixel isn't showing the apps on my home screen.
