Why won't my Galaxy Note4 synch with my google calendar?

My Google calendar app on my Galaxy Note 4 used to synch with my laptop google calendar. Now it no longer does so. I have run through the list of troubleshooting tips. When I click the 3 little dots in the upper right hand corner, and tell it to "refresh," the refresh wheel just spins and spins endlessly.
