bluetooth headset connects and starts a voice call

Using a Samsung galaxy note 5 in Australia. Recently updated software to version N920IDVU3BPJ2/N920IOLC3BPJ2/N920IDVU3BPI3. Now whenever any bluetooth device connects to my phone, it automatically opens a voice call, and I need to end the call before I can use the the bluetooth device. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there an easy fix? Contacted Samsung and they suggested full factory reset, which I'm keen to avoid if possible
