P20, Why do I need to set up password to change launchers?

My Huawei P20 just updated recently and one of the changes is the requirement to add a password before changing from a default launcher to a 3rd party launcher. (I'm using Nova but it applies to every launchers) I don't want to lock my phone but it seems like Huawei wants me to use their crappy layout. So is there a bypass? Thanks
