how to remove Backlight on s7edge in night mode

my s7 edge recently started having the back light on in night mode or when I have the always on display which never was like that before..just the numbers itself use to be illuminated. I tried everything i could think of to stop it ...only option was to take off the night mode ...I used the night mode edge screen on my bed side so i can see the time with out having to pick up my phone but now the screen is black but with the back light on so its actually showing up bighter... can you email me at [removed by moderator] for any suggestions
