Galaxy S7 is stuck on a ring tone, how do I change it to another tone?

I go to Settings> Sound and Vibrations> Ring tone and select another tone, The dot beside the tone label darkens and the tone is repeated twice, but nothing happens on the screen. I closed it and checked the tone again - no change.
I tried again. After changing the tone, I then tried clicking on the left return arrowhead at the top left of the screen & it saved the choice.
