How do I define contacts with multiple numbers whene texting?

How do I define contacts with multiple numbers whene texting? I have multiple contatcs with multiple numbers.... cell, work, personal etc and I text to all numbers. When I look at my texts I dont know which number I am sending a message to. Each number has a different colour but they are very similar and hard to distinguish.
