Why won't my mobile data work after using wifi?

I use a Samsung 8 tablet and I had disconnected my mobile data because it was choppy and connected my wifi. After a while, I tried reconnecting my mobile data and it would not work no matter what. The icon has a little 'x' my the mobile data sign (which has no bars). What can I do?
