In Yahoo Mail App, clicking on new email, gets you an already opened email, WHY?

On my Yahoo Android Email App, tapping on a new email, opens an already checked and opened email. It does not happen all the time, but happens frequently enough that it's starting to bug me. So, what I do is I go back and tap the new email once again, and that usually opens it. Why is this happening. And by the way I have the Note 8.
