I'm not receiving texts and/or am sending duplicate texts, after the last update

In my family we have five S8, 2 iPhones and an S7. After the last update everyone is receiving duplicate texts or no text at all, in the group chats. We've done everything suggested by the store reps, only to be told we'll need to upgrade. Is Samsung sabotaging the phones during upgrades, so that we will have to get a newer model?
