Pixel 3 From Iphone. Can't search transferred Messages

I transferred my texts from my iphone upon setup of my Pixel 3 using the builtin transfer feature and the adapter that came with the phone. In the Messages app, I can't use the search feature to search my old transferred messages. The search feature only finds messages received since I started using the phone. Is this a bug or or something that can be fixed?
