rooting my phone or tablet

i have amazon prime and a kyocera smartphone which i want to root so that I can download movies to my device. i also have a motrola moto phone and a samsung tablet nook, with only a gig of system memory. how much is it to root any of these devices to work with amazon underground app. NYC - 1AM
