What does a blue checkmark mean next to contact number or contact email?

In my Samsung Galaxy Light contacts my Boyfriends phone number and email both have a blue checkmark. He is the only contact with this, and I have no idea why, and I can't get rid of them, can someone please explain to me what this means. Thank you :)
