how do I set the timer on my LG "Lucky" phone aka "straight talk"

My tech knowledge is nil-you must speak to me like I'm six years old. I would like to know how to set the timer on my phone when for ex. I've got something on the stove; I want to wake up at a certain time etc. Thanks for your help.
