Smart select using a fence to select an area as a image would copy to memory using the auto shape it would store the clipped area in memory or on the clipboard temporarily as if it had been bit blighted. Then you could close the image note whatever open a different note image and paste the fenced area to the new image like photoshopping the photo. The the image note combined with the fenced clip for a new image or note that combined both. The feature is gone.
