Why does my stylus pen "break" the menu buttons and notification bar?

I have an LG Stylo 2 and it did work fine up until now. Every time I take out the stylus pen it grays out all of the menu buttons all except the back button and it won't let me slide down the notification bar down either. I don't know what's causing this but I would like to take my stylus pen out and use it without all of that happening. Please Help!!
