moto G only rings on incoming call. no display, can't answer

Call comes in, phone rings, no display, can't answer. Prox sensor tests OK. After call it shows missed call. Can't enter recovery mode to clear cache. When I select recovery mode and hit power, screen goes black and nothing happens. Have not tried factory reset yet.
