How to find an unsaved number

I was calling and texting back and forth to a number a few months ago, i was never able to save the number for reasons i honestly can't say, but i want to reach out to the person again, we haven't contacted one another in months and I never saved the number, is it possible to get it back?
I have a samsung galaxy j3 emerge phone if that helps
