My LED light isn't working when I charge my phone or get notifications.

When my battery is totally gone and I plug it in to recharge it the LED light starts flashing for about 5 seconds and then turns off but I get no no blue light notifications when I get taxes or when my phone is charging or a red light to say it's fully charged so I wonder why it has stopped.
