S10+ fingerprint scanner won't allow me to add fingerprints

I am trying to add my fingerprints. It keeps telling me to press harder and just won't accept that I am. I returned the first phone thinking it was broken and they replaced it. I am having the exact same issue. I do not have very deep ridges in my fingerprints, could that be part of the problem?
