my screen is totally locked up saying, "Upgrading screen lock 90%" how do i get it to open up?

i just received my s7 replacement phone. as i am setting it up, it asks all the questions about locking apps etc., which includes adding passcodes, etc. right now, my phone is locked up with my screen showing a lock with a circle with a rotating dot on the circle and it says "upgrading screen lock 90%". i cannot turn it off of or get out of this locked screen and it's been this way for 30 - 40 mins now. any knowledge on this ?
