My tablet won't open up agter the ' Downloading ' screen

My oringinal Samsung galaxy tab that doesn't have a home button, won't open up after I get to the "Downloading, don't turn off target" screen.
I got there by going through advice because my tablet was locked and I had forgotten my Google ID. Please help
