How do I turn off hover select in Android marshmallow 6.0 on LG stylus 2 plus?

I keep accidentally selected things on my screen for my head is close to the screen but not yet touching. I assume some type of hover select is in effect but I can find no setting to turn off hover select and just go with manual touch. Any help is always appreciated.
