Downloading/backing up pictures from oneplus into Mac is reducing files size

I'm trying to back up my images from oneplus 6 into my mac. Tried via photos. Tried via USB+DCIM. Images showing around 2MB in the phone but are downloading in sizes around 250KB on computer.
