Apps, such as Temp Monitor and Core Master, are designed to measure operating temperatures. But I think the phone/chip must have the proper hardware. I installed Core Master and it occasionally reports that my core temperature is high. GSM battery monitor as well.
But, does the phone and the Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chip, actually have the hardware to report to these apps?
