"Unable to delete some documents" message from my MotoE

When I try to delete photos or videos from my moto e 2nd generation I get a message saying "unable to delete some documents". The bin icon appears as expected, but selecting it causes the same popup message to appear every time. Videos and photos taken on phone give same message.
