How to delete a calendar birthday item in S-Planner - Galaxy S5

in my Galaxy S5, S planner contains a calendar birthday item that was previously linked to a birthday noted in a contact on the S5. i tried many ways to delete the calendar item including deleting the contact that it originated from but the birthday calendar item remains.

When the item in S Planner is highlighted, the only choices available are: Share as; VCS file or Text..
