my samsung tab 3 ST T 5 31 won't update

Due to whatsapp not supporting many devices I had to update my tablet to version 5 or higher I'm currently on kit kat 4.2.2 and I tried updating it to version 5 I left the update the whole night and when it was complete I checked my settings and I was still on version 4.2.2 when I tried to update again the details said update to version 4.2.2 please
