Why has the "Ringtone ID" button turned gray and all my ringtones are all gone from my contacts.

I had all my contacts with hand picked ringtones. I have noticed that the ringtones I chose are not being applied. I went in my contacts to change them back but the Ringtone ID button is grayed out and I cannot use it
