Why can't I use my Micro SD card?

I have an LG Stylo 2 Plus with 16GB internal storage. I purchased a Micro SD card to expand my storage capacity, but I don't see it anywhere on my phone! My previous phones never had this problem. I checked my storage, and there isn't even an option to check (or even mount/format/delete) the card...please help!
