There is no field for Birthdays in Contacts

My old contacts still show a field for adding a birthday, which then appears in my Birthdays Calendar. However, the new Contacts don't have the field for birthdays anymore, so that my Birthdays calendar don't show birthdays for new contacts. I could add manually birthdays in My Calendar, but they don't show in Birthdays calendar.
What happened to the Birthday Field in the Contacts?
